Menu Plan (Monday) Tuesday!

One of the "new" things that I have discovered on the way to becoming domesticated is menu planning. I had found these cool magnetic weekly planners at the Dollar Tree and pickes some up in the hopes of starting to menu plan. It took awhile from the day I purschased those planners to the day that I made my first menu .... but I really like doing the menu plan. I think my hubby likes it too because on Sunday he asked if the new menu was on the fridge yet! Nope it wasn't but I made it up fast afterwords. For ideas on your menu planning visit this great blog: http://orgjunkie.com/2008/10/menu-plan-monday-oct-6th-thanksgiving-edition.html

Sunday ~ Roast and Potatoes in the crockpot ~ Hubby cooked!

Monday ~ Cheesy Pasta Helper with extra tuna and peas added because hubby forgot to take hamburger out!

Tuesday ~ Chili in the crockpot and cornbread muffins ~ Hubby cooked again!

Wednesday ~ Baked Pork Chops and Greenbean casserole

Thursday ~ Homemade Pizza

Friday ~ Hearty Chicken Pot Pie

Saturday ~ Baked Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup

And here's a picture of my planner on the fridge!

My 1st Apple Pie!

The other day my husband and uncle and I went and picked some apples from my mother-in-law and father-in-law's apple tree. I had been reading a blog with recipes on it and came across an apple pie recipe and printed it out. I have NEVER baked a pie in my life! But I want to try new things and so when my mother-in-law mentioned the apple tree I was giddy with excitement over picking apples to bake a pie!
Well my creationg turned out wonderfully! My husband doesn't usually like apple pie (or anything with baked apples) but this pie he loved! He said we'll have to go pick more apples and I will have to bake another one!
APPLE PIE
Ingredients
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 t ground nutmeg
1/2 t ground cinnamon
6 cups thinly sliced apples (about 6 medium)
2 T butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 pkg ready-made refrigerated pie crust
DIRECTIONS
Heat oven to 425 degrees F. Mix white sugar, flour, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Stir in apples. Turn into pastry-lined 9" pie plate; dot with butter and sprinkle brown sugar. Cover with top crust; seal and flute. Cut slits in top crust to vent. Cover edge with foil; remove foil during last 15 minutes of baking. Bake until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust, 40-50 minutes.

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog. This is where I will be sharing and documenting a little bit about my life as I try to become a better wife, a better cook, a better housekeeper and learn to save money while shopping! I have been following along with various blogs that talk about meal planning, couponing, and CVSing. By reading about what works for other people as they shop for good deals I have learned how to spot a good deal and have been using coupons to save money! I hope you enjoy my journey to becoming domesticated!
